George's layout, "The First Spike Railroad" is at a fairly advanced stage. There are three distinct lines (passenger, freight and mining), plus an extensive yard area. Four cabs control the engines; one for each line plus an additional one for the yard area.
The mine line is isolated from the yard, so engines requiring service must be shunted across a special siding connected to the freight line. An electronic relay board is used to ensure power to the siding only comes from one cab (either mine or freight).
Most of the track has been laid and scenery is well under way. The mountain ranges have been built and landscaped. More work is still needed in the yard and town areas.
Future plans include upgrading to Digital Command, removal of the reversing loops, and possibly starting over again with a singular peninsula format.
